This site is brand new. Neighborhood profiles, restaurant lists, visa walkthroughs, and practical moving-here guides are being written now. Subscribe on the homepage and we'll email you when the first section launches.
Our editorial standards
- Neighborhoods are written after real time in each one - not compiled from a desk in another country.
- Prices (rent, groceries, utilities, healthcare) show the exchange rate used and a “Last updated” date. They’re re-checked each quarter.
- Restaurants and bars are places we’ve actually eaten and drunk at. If a spot appears on a “best of” list, we’ve been there more than once.
- Cédula vs. passport access is flagged wherever it differs - many venues, banks, medical providers, and government services behave differently for tourists vs. residents.
- Medical tourism pages (dental, plastic surgery) are written conservatively: board-certified clinics only, red flags flagged, no kickbacks.
What Cartagena Guide isn’t
- Not a tourism board. Nothing here is paid placement unless it’s labeled “Sponsored.”
- Not a news site. For breaking local news, read El Universal and El Heraldo.
- Not a forum. For community questions, join the Facebook group once it launches.
Corrections
If you see something wrong - a price that’s out of date, a restaurant that closed, a visa rule that changed - email us via the Contact page and we’ll update it. Corrections land publicly in the page’s git history.
How this site makes money
Display ads (eventually), a small number of affiliate links (always disclosed at the point of linking - see our Affiliate Disclosure), and paid placements on the Advertise page that are clearly labeled “Sponsored.” Editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.
